Training Philosophy

Our training component focuses on quality, not quantity: train faster in practices, race faster in competition:

  • Single workouts designed to generate intensity, focusing on swimming fast with good technique
  • Video stroke analysis under and above water
  • Weekly Mental training: visualization, mental imagery, goal-setting and team building
  • Pre, post, and during season conditioning program, emphasizing swimming specific exercises that build strength, flexibility and power.
  • Dryland program: exercises and circuit work that focuses on core body strength, reaction time, and preventative shoulder injury exercises.

Teammates are a definite asset at Grinnell College. Ask a Grinnell College swimmer why they swim. I am sure that you will find an answer relating to the relationship with their teammates. We encourage to find out more about the Grinnell College Swimming and Diving Team. Come meet with the team and coaching staff …see what you can be a part of.
