Conney M. Kimbo Black Cultural Center

On the northeast corner of 10th Avenue and Park Street is a wood-frame house designated the Conney M. Kimbo Black Cultural Center. A facility maintained by African American students for multicultural advancement and educational enrichment, the center honors the memory of a distinguished dean of student affairs who served in that position from 1970 to 1973. The house, which was owned in the earlier part of the century by Grinnell businessman Frederic Morrison of the Class of 1901, was also the family home of Robert Noyce when the scientist-entrepreneur's father, Rev. Ralph B. Noyce, was associate superintendent of the Congregational Christian Conference of Iowa in the late 1930s and 1940s.
