The Grinnell-in-Washington DC program (GIW) is a 16 credit semester, featuring an intensive internship four days per week, plus courses taught by Grinnell faculty.  All students register for the following courses: POL 295: Contextual Policy Making, ST 295: Organizational Life and Decision-Making in DC, plus a core course which changes each semester.  Courses are typically taught on Fridays and one weekday evening each week.  Internships are arranged by the Washington Internship Institute, and opportunities exist in nearly every field.  Past GIW students have found rewarding internships in the fields of policy, law, finance, scientific research, environmental advocacy, education, and social work.  The program includes numerous field trips and opportunities to engage with the area’s alumni network.  Housing options include furnished apartments and dormitories in central DC.  GIW is only offered during the fall semester.
