Professor Jerry Lalonde

Jerry Lalonde received his Ph.D. in Classical Studies from the University of Washington. In 1966 and 1967, he worked as a fieldwork supervisor in archaeological excavations of the ancient Agora in Athens, and in subsequent summers and sabbatical leaves has studied and written about the institutions, monuments and inscriptions of that site. He has also frequently been a research fellow of the American School of Classical Studies at Athens. A member of the Grinnell faculty since 1969, Professor Lalonde has taught classical languages, literature, history, archaeology and art. At Grinnell, he has served two terms as Chair of the Faculty and a stint as Interim V-P for Alumni Relations and Development.

Eleni Zachariou

Accompanying Professor Lalonde will be friend and Greek expert, Eleni Zachariou. She is a popular lecturer in her native Greece and has served as a Study Leader and local expert for numerous American groups including several Grinnell Alumni tours to Greece and Southern Italy. Eleni holds a B.A. in foreign languages from the University of Geneva and an M.A. degree in History from the University of La Verne.
