Was a four-year letterwinner in soccer, a three-year letterwinner in basketball and a one-year letterwinner in track at Iowa Mennonite School in Kalona, IA. Was named 1st Team All-Conference, SEISC North Player of the Year, All-District, Academic All-State and Des Moines Register 3rd Team All-State his senior year. Was a Academic All-Conference in soccer and basketball his junior and senior years and a Wendy's High School Heisman nominee. Was class Valedictorian, school newspaper editor, an AP Scholar and was named the Greater Iowa City Area Youth Salute Leader of the Year as well as the recipient of the Iowa State Bar Association Citizenship Award.
