Six Grinnell College softball players earned Scholar-Athlete honors from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association for the 2011 campaign.

Pioneers making the Division III list were Kelsey Montgomery ’11, Hannah Ney ’11, Grace Ryan ’14, Amanda Stromquist ’12, Aniela Wendt ’14 and Jayme Wiebold ’12. In order to be honored, players must have a grade point average of at least 3.50.

Grinnell College softball players Brianna Gallo ’11 (left) and Amanda Stromquist ’12 (right) have been named to the All-Midwest Conference South Division Team for the 2011 campaign.

Gallo is an all-conference selection for the third time in her career, while Stromquist is now a two-time all-league pick.

The Grinnell College softball team wrapped up its 2011 campaign Wednesday afternoon, falling to nationally-ranked Central College 10-1 and 12-0 at Pella.

Grinnell hung tight with the Dutch for half of the first game, which was tied 1-1 through 3 ½ innings.
