Grinnell College women’s tennis players captured four singles titles at the Midwest Conference Championships Sunday in Madison, Wis.

Winning crowns were Constanza Alarcon ’13 at the second flight, Shirlene Luk ’15 at No. 3, Hanna Feldman ’14 at No. 5 and Toby Cain ’12 at No. 6. Two Grinnell College women’s duos captured 2011 Midwest Conference tennis doubles titles at the league meet Saturday in Madison, Wis.

Constanza Alarcon ’13 and Clothilde Thirouin ’14 teamed up to win the second flight, while Toby Cain ’12 and Shirlene Luk ’15 won at No. 3. Alarcon has now won the maximum five individual MWC titles, having claimed doubles and singles crowns in both 2010 and 2009.

The Grinnell College women’s tennis team claimed its seventh Midwest Conference title in the last eight years, and finished its fall campaign unbeaten, with a 5-1 victory over St. Norbert College Friday afternoon in Rockford, Ill.

The victory sends Grinnell to 13-0 on the season as the Pioneers earned the league’s automatic berth to the NCAA Division III National Tournament next spring. St. Norbert fell to 12-4.

The Grinnell College women’s tennis team will seek its seventh Midwest Conference title in the past eight seasons when the Pioneers open the league meet Friday morning.
