Our diverse and inclusive community isn't just a warm and welcoming place to spend four years — it is also an essential part of your education here. That is because we all benefit when we seek to understand different viewpoints.

No matter where you're from or what your background, our intentionally diverse, close-knit community creates friendships that will expand your horizons and could change your life.

We actively recruit incoming classes that represent a variety of viewpoints and experiences — including diversity in race, citizenship, economic class, gender, sexual orientation, religion, academic interests, and experiences. And our diversity extends to faculty and staff, as well.

We offer wide-ranging programs that show not only how we differ, but also the many things we all have in common.

About a quarter of our students are domestic students of color. Our international students join classmates from 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia.  The Office of Diversity and Inclusion and other offices provide programs on diversity and cultural issues.

While you’re at it, check out the Black Cultural Center and Stonewall Resource Center — student-staffed sites that also offer programming and events. Beyond that, dozens of student-run organizations focus on diversity and cultural issues.
