On-Campus Visits

A campus visit is one of the best ways to decide whether Grinnell is a good fit for you! For the most productive visit to campus, we recommend prospective students and their families attend an information session followed by a campus tour, each of which will last about an hour. Additional visit activities, such as a class visit or lunch with a current student, will extend your time on campus. Visit activities are limited during examination periods, breaks, and holidays.

While we welcome visitors to campus at any time, if you are seeking a more in-depth visit, please request a visit at least 48 hours in advance of your desired visit date. Please refer to the tabs below for information on each topic.

Please see the Academic Break Calendar for a list of dates when visit activities may be limited.

Our interactive registration will walk you through what’s available on the days you’d like to come. Throughout the year, we also offer program days for prospective students. Check our on-campus events for information on these programs.

Visit Sessions

We offer three possible options on a daily basis when classes are in session (Monday–Friday). Each option includes an information session conducted by an admission counselor or trained senior student and a student-led campus tour. The information session provides an overview of Grinnell's academic programs, career development services, internship and research opportunities, admission requirements, and need- and merit-based financial aid opportunities. Campus tours illuminate Grinnell's individuality through exploration of the academic buildings, residence halls, athletic facilities, the dining hall, and social venues.

  • Morning visit session begins at 8:45 a.m.
  • Afternoon visit session begins at 1 p.m.
  • All-day visit session begins at 8:45 a.m.
*the all-day visit option is available only when classes are in session and class visits are offered

Group or Counselor Visits

Grinnell College welcomes organized group visits of high school students and counselor visits! If you are planning a group visit (10 or more people, prospective undergraduate students, group coordinators, and chaperones only), or you are a high school counselor who would like to visit Grinnell, please email us and you will be directed to the regional admission counselor for your area. For group visits, we can only accommodate students of high school age.

Group tours and information sessions last approximately an hour each. We are, however, open to discussing a different format.
