FAQ

What should I bring?

You will not need money or any other supplies. We will provide everything your student needs! (Do bring inhalers or any other necessary medical items your student might need.)

What if I don’t live in Grinnell?

Due to the pause on hosting Ignite, we are limiting student registration to students in the Grinnell-Newburg School District for this session. We hope to return to normal Ignite numbers in the future.

What if I don’t have the internet to register?

If you do not have access to the internet, please contact the Ignite staff; we will help register you over the phone, 641-269-3900.

What if I missed the registration deadline?

Space is limited in Ignite and because we need accurate counts for meals, supplies, and other details related to the program’s success, we will not be accepting students after the registration deadline has passed. If an age group is full, we will add students to waitlists during the registration period, but not after.

What if my child has a special dietary need?

We do our best to meet the dietary needs of all students. The snack given to the students will be cookies and juice. We are able to order gluten-free cookies; however, if your student has a specific concern, please feel free to pack a separate snack. Please make sure to let the staff at the welcome desk know when checking them in.

My child is in preschool and gets nervous when I leave. Can I stay and help in the room?

While we understand that it can sometimes be scary/intimidating for some of the younger children to be dropped off at a new place with new people, we, unfortunately, can’t allow parents to stay with their kids during classes. All Grinnell College Ignite teachers have gone through special training regarding how to work with minors. We make sure all students are with safe and trained adults. If a student needs an early pick-up, an Ignite staff member will call the student's contact. Luckily, we usually only have one or two students that struggle at drop-off. Most have a great time!
