International Student Affairs (OISA)

Who says north is up? The world, like a ball, has no top. Top is a matter of habit, convention, and emphasis. Our lives are enriched when we see things from a different point of view.

The Office of International Student Affairs (OISA) is dedicated to international student and scholar success. We report to Student Affairs and we are co-located with the Institute for Global Engagement (IGE) on the first floor of the Humanities and Social Sciences Center (HSSC).

OISA helps international students and exchange visitors navigate life and learning in Grinnell, Iowa, USA. We offer ongoing regulatory advice, cultural programming, and academic and social support and referrals. We facilitate institutional compliance with the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP), and we collaborate with campus partners to help Grinnell College support and serve a global student body.

OISA World Map with pinpoints representing Grinnellians' passport countries

This map plots the passport countries of currently enrolled international students, which spans over 56 countries. Red indicates new students beginning August 2023. For more information about the make-up of our student body, please check out Grinnell's Gallery of Flags which hangs above the Spencer Grill in the Joe Rosenfield ’25 Center.
