The Library SEPC (Student Educational Policy Committee) is a student/library liaison group that provides the Libraries with student input on quality of library services, performance and hiring of librarians, and other important issues. SEPC works with a group of librarians and library staff as part of a Student Outreach Committee that provides advice and suggestions to the Libraries regarding services, collections, events, facilities, library promotion, and other issues. The SEPC also helps organize the Libraries' finals-week study breaks, surveys students and summarizes their opinions regarding the professional performance of librarians during contract reviews, and participates in interviews of candidates for librarian positions. The Library SEPC includes:
- 6 library student employees elected at the beginning of the fall semester by all the current library student employees and, if applicable, 2 members-at-large who agree to stay on from the previous year

Application for Library Student Employment
Library Student Employment
As an academic library, we rely heavily on our student assistants to help with many tasks such as processing and shelving library materials, and staffing public service desks at Burling, Kistle, the Burling Media Room and Special Collections. Students are hired to work in all areas of the Libraries and are directly supervised by library staff members. We tend to do the bulk of our hiring near the beginning of each semester, but occasionally have openings throughout the year. We accept applications for the academic year, as well as for all college breaks. For questions, contact Micki Behounek, [behounek] 641-269-3354.

Grinnell College Libraries Student Employment Handbook: This handbook has been prepared to give student employees an understanding of what they can expect from us as faculty, staff, and supervisors, and what we, in turn, expect of ALL student employees in the Libraries.
