Peer Connections Pre-Orientation Program (PCPOP)
The Office of Intercultural Affairs is pleased that you are interested in our Peer Connections Pre-Orientation Program (PCPOP)!
The Peer Connections Pre-Orientation Program (PCPOP) is a year-long program designed to create a positive adjustment to Grinnell College for first-year students from historically marginalized identities and backgrounds, including but not limited to, students of color, first-generation students, students with disabilities, and LGBTQIA+ students. This yearlong program is a chance for students to build intentional relationships with students, staff, and faculty to greatly enhance their academic, social, and cultural capital during their tenure as students of Grinnell College.
Students will continue to build community through intentional programming as the school year commences. This year-long program is a chance for students to build intentional relationships with students, staff, and faculty to greatly enhance their academic, social, and cultural capital during their four-year tenure as students of Grinnell College. This program is sponsored by the Office of Intercultural Affairs. All inquiries can be directed via email to ica[at]grinnell[dot]edu or to Vrinda Varia, Student Support Advisor in Intercultural Affairs, via email at variavri[at]grinnell[dot]edu or phone at 641-269-3700.
There is no charge to participate in PCPOP. Upon your arrival to campus, you will move into your Residence Hall room that has been assigned to you and all meals are provided.
Mentor and Mentee Relationships
A critical aspect of the PCPOP model is our mentor — mentee relationships.
Mentors are chosen from a pool of high achieving campus leaders.
Mentees are paired with mentors based on shared interests, academic histories, regional similarities and various other factors.
Mentors serve as a guide and support system for mentees and not merely tour guides. PCPOP mentors are available to share their experiences and offer candid perspectives on life at Grinnell. Though we will encourage and help develop strong, long-lasting relationships through group activities and check-ins we allow both parties to form the kinds of mentor — mentee relationships which will prove most useful for their needs. PCPOP mentors will be but one of many mentors and resources on Grinnell's campus available to guarantee student success.
To sign-up for PCPOP login to Grinnell Share and use the New Student Checklist to register.
We encourage early registration, as space is limited.
Registration information forthcoming.

We look forward to your arrival in August and the opportunity to introduce you to this dynamic community!
