Read Hall has three lounges--in the pit and on the first and third floors. The first floor lounge has a television, and the lounge in the pit is next to a kitchen.


Read Hall has two kitchens, one in the pit, and one on the third floor. The main kitchen (located in the pit) is equipped with a stove, a microwave, a fridge and an oven.


A trunk room is located in the basement of Read.


Residents of Read can access laundry facilities located in Loose Hall and Main Hall.

Computer Lab

Read has a computer lab located on the first floor. It has six PCs, two Macs, and a black and white printer.


Read has a recycling facility located on the first floor of Read.

Built in 1915, Read Hall was named to honor Luella Jane Read.  Luella was a German professor at Grinnell College who went on to become the Dean of Women and an Art History professor.  Read is a South Campus residence hall located between Haines and Loose Halls.
