Named for: longtime Grinnell College trustee and benefactor Joe Rosenfield ’25.
The Marketplace: The Marketplace, Grinnell’s dining hall, contains many different stations offering different kinds of food, including grilled foods, pasta, stir-fry, sandwiches, salads, and vegan options. In the morning, the pasta bar is converted into a highly praised eggs-to-order station.
Classrooms: Most JRC classrooms are equipped with LCD projectors and multimedia podiums and accommodate classes, presentations, meetings, films, or video game tournaments.
The Spencer Grill: The Spencer Grill provides snacks, sandwiches, and (most importantly) coffee to students. Grinnell’s meal exchange program, Out Takes, is also located in The Spencer Grill, offering different entrée options on a 10-day cycle. It’s also a popular student hangout.
Fireplace Lounge/Laurel Leaf Lounge: The JRC’s Laurel Leaf Lounge, also known as the Fireplace Lounge, is a popular location for quiet studying, lounging, study breaks and naps. It features a large gas-fired fireplace.

The architect who designed the building, Cesar Pelli, is the same architect that designed the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It was the tallest building in the world from 1998 until 2004.
