Named for: The center is named for the late Conney M. Kimbo, a distinguished dean of student affairs who served 1970–73.

African-American students maintain the Kimbo Black Cultural Center for multicultural advancement and educational enrichment. It honors and celebrates black history, culture, and the diaspora of people who identify with African heritage. It was created in response to a proposal from the Concerned Black Students, a student organization founded in 1967.
