Clark Hall

History
Clark Hall is named for Theodore F. Clark. When President John H.T. Main spoke at the dedication of Clark Hall on June 13, 1920, he noted: “A long time before this group of buildings was realized in brick and mortar, I dreamed about them and fervently hoped that when they were built that each one would develop in the mind and hearts of those who were to live in it, in some degree, the spiritual ideals that we associate with home life.” Clark Hall was also home to the legendary “Clark Hall pig slaughter” that nearly ended the career of Intel co-founder Robert N. Noyce ’49 before it started. Stories abound about Noyce’s role in the theft and subsequent slaughter of a pig on Clark Third in preparation for a Hawaiian luau. College officials and local law enforcement looked askance on the episode. If Professor Grant Gale had not intervened, Noyce probably would have been expelled.
Building Use
Clark Hall features four student lounges and one kitchen. The rooms are assigned as singles, doubles, or triples.
