You will assess your students in both formative (designed to help them improve) and summative (scored) ways throughout the semester, in collaboration with co-tutors sometimes, with the director sometimes, and with outside examiners. An example of the type of assessment you will develop is the oral quiz --this can be like a role-playing situation you may use in class, only in this instance students will earn points for pronunciation and communicative competency. This is both summative in that you'll be awarding points and formative in that you'll be helping them to prepare for the two major assessments of the semester --the mid-semester oral exam and the final oral exam administered by outside examiners.
It is your responsibility to communicate with the examiner about the content covered in the class so that he or she can ask level-appropriate questions. To that end, it is important to keep good records of what you covered (the agreed upon syllabus as well as student progress reports).
