In the first week of the semester, I will ask you to attend a three hour foreign language methods boot camp. This meeting will not only cover all the methods of instruction you may use in the course of the semester, but will also cover syllabus and lesson planning, creating formative and summative assessments, using p-web to keep track of students, and using technological tools to enhance teaching and learning. If you are in possession of the class textbook, please be sure to bring it with you to this meeting.
In addition, you will be required to attend 10 meetings throughout the semester at which we will continue to discuss teaching methods, technology, and assessments. These are great opportunities to share ideas for tutoring and for motivating students with other ALSO tutors. We will have pre-arrange practice teaching sessions for each other early in the semester, and organize peer observations. I will also visit your tutoring sessions at least twice/semester and offer you consructive feedback.
