Practice Sessions

Much of practice session time will be devoted to exercises to build your oral proficiency.

Attendance is Mandatory

Your tutor will be keeping track of your attendance and give you feedback on areas that need work.

No English Spoken Here

Come to practice sessions prepared to practice, NOT to ask questions about grammar in English, which take time away from the learning process.Your tutor will use only the target language in practice session.

The Role of the tutor

The role of the tutor is to engage you in fun and demanding oral learning activities designed to help with pronunciation, to build up your vocabulary and use of typical target utterances, or designed to help you perform a communicative task in the target language.

Avoid using visual crutches

Close or put away your book during the practice session so that you can focus on aural comprehension and oral proficiency. The book work should have taken place before the practice session, in any case.

Encountering Frustrations

Your tutor may have a slightly different accent than the voice on the audio, but variations in language are to be expected. Your tutor may also speak at a regular pace in the target language, and this can be hard to follow at times, but you will build your aural skills, especially by doing the multimedia work, which you can slow down or repeat at your convenience. Frustrations in langugage learning are normal, but if you have a problem with your tutor, do not hesitate to contact the Director immediately.
