My major research interests center around the elucidation of the central nervous
systems that regulate and control both the timing and the duration of Rapid Eye
Movement (REM) Sleep. The major approach in this area is carried out using
pharmacological agents with known mechanisms of action and microinjecting them
into appropriate brain regions. Use of in vivo microdialysis is also employed to
understand the normal release of neurotransmitters during REM Sleep.
