Architecture

A broad education in the liberal arts and sciences is excellent preparation for a career in architecture. Grinnell has a cooperative preprofessional program in architecture with Washington University in St. Louis. During the third year, interested students make known their intent to transfer and prepare a portfolio based on studio courses. After they complete their third year at Grinnell&mdash having constructed a course of study that meets the general academic and specific major requirements for graduating from Grinnell&mdash students spend their senior year at Washington University, taking specified courses to develop pertinent skills. Graduation from Grinnell occurs after the successful completion of that year, and a three-year graduate course of study completes the program.
