Four years of undergraduate study are usually the recommended preparation for engineering, law, medicine, dentistry, and other professional programs. However, Grinnell maintains a cooperative relationship with several professional schools that will admit selected students after three years of undergraduate work. These students are awarded the Grinnell B.A. degree after one year at the cooperating institution if they have fulfilled the Grinnell graduation requirements. They also receive a professional degree from the cooperating institution upon completion of the program there. The prerequisites for all applicants are: senior standing (at least 92 credits), a grade point average varies by institution, and completion of appropriate preprofessional studies with an approved minimum of courses in a major field, plus any courses especially required for the profession.
