This Social Studies Data Index has been created for use by students and faculty for research projects, class projects, papers, and studies.

Currently, the Index gives access to data sets in Economics data, Sociology data, Political Science data, and Geographical Information System (GIS) data. Some of the data have been purchased from vendors including the International Monetary Fund, the Roper Center, and the World Bank. Other datasets were created by faculty and students at Grinnell College. Most of the data were obtained from the Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR). As ICPSR members through a federation of ACM and GLCA Colleges, Grinnell College faculty, students, and staff have access to the largest archive of datasets for secondary data analysis in the world.
