General Science Requirements

Option 1: Completion of a 40 semester hours teaching major, which must minimally include the following (note: this option fulfills the requirements for a general science major):

  • Biological Science--both of the following courses (8 credits):
    • BIO 135: Structure and Functions of Organisms
    • BIO 136: Evolution and Ecology
  • Chemistry--both of the following courses (8 credits):
    • CHM 129: General Chemistry
    • CHM 130: Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry
  • Physics--both of the following courses (8 credits):
    • PHY 131: General Physics I
    • PHY 132: General Physics II
  • Other
    • Concentration in biology, chemistry, math, or physics (16 credits)
    • Choose one sequence:
      • MAT 127 and 128: Calculus and Probability I and II
      • MAT 131 and 132: Calculus I and II
  • Total Credits: 40

Option 2: Completion of 24 semester hours in general science, including the following courses:

  • Biological Science--both of the following courses (8 credits):
    • BIO 135: Structure and Functions of Organisms
    • BIO 136: Evolution and Ecology
  • Chemistry--both of the following courses (8 credits):
    • CHM 129: General Chemistry
    • CHM 130: Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry
  • Physics--both of the following courses (8 credits):
    • PHY 131: General Physics I
    • PHY 132: General Physics II
  • Total Credits: 24
