Heather's field of research is 18th century British literature. Her areas of interest include autobiography and narratives of the self, the epistolary novel, and women’s writing. She has published in journals including Prose Studies and a/b: Auto/Biography Studies. She is currently working on a book project that considers the role sympathy plays in shaping identity. This work is tentatively titled Sympathy and Alienation: Inventing Selves in Eighteenth-Century England.
