Student Educational Policy Committee

Each department at Grinnell has a Student Educational Policy Committee.  An SEPC is a group of students who work with the department to coordinate activities for students and faculty.  Other responsibilities include sending a representative to the Student Curriculum Committee (SCC) and helping in the review process for new and tenure track professors.  The German SEPC is open to all German majors, as well as non-majors who are active in the department.  In case of questions or concerns, please contact deutsch@grinnell.edu.

The current co-chairs of German SEPC are Lea Greenberg ’14 and Eleanor Price ’14.

Current Activities

During the 2011-12 school year, the German department will be hiring a new tenure-track faculty member.  SEPC will participate in the interview process in Spring 2012.

We organized a trip to the Amana Colonies for Oktoberfest.  Over 50 students, majors and non-majors, participated in the trip.

In early October, SEPC did a movie night and showed Gegen die Wand.  SEPC movie nights are open to all students.  Films are shown with English subtitles for the benefit of those who do not speak German.  SEPC plans to show films on a monthly basis.

We are also holding a t-shirt design contest and are planning to order department t-shirts this fall.
