London is one of the most culturally rich cities in the world. As the capital of Britain, it is truly a global metropolis. It has a long history as the seat of colonial power, and is today the capital of the Commonwealth of Nations. London has been a center for high and popular culture for hundreds of years, and is now a global center for finance and international politics.

While on the Grinnell-in-London program, students take courses that closely resemble the high-quality and engaging classes that they experience while on the Grinnell campus. It is unique to this program that the intimacy of Grinnell's small size extends to a city of 7 million people. Students take classes exclusively with other Grinnellians from two Grinnell faculty who join them in London, as well as from British professors of a variety of subjects.

Students who go on the Grinnell-in-London program have a ready-made community for experiencing London, the U.K., and Europe. Field trips and other events tie their coursework to the famous artistic, political, economic, and scientific heritage of Britain and other European nations. Some students serve as interns throughout London for six weeks of the semester, while others take an additional class that includes extended travel in order to develop a deeper knowledge of British and European culture.

Grinnell-in-London is an excellent program for Grinnell students and faculty looking to explore and learn from a uniquely global city.
