Stephen Crowley Stephen Crowley is Associate Professor of Politics at Oberlin College, where for over ten years he has taught courses on globalization, revolutions, and the transformation of post-communist societies. His published books and articles have focused on the transformation of Russia and Eastern Europe, particularly on workers and labor unions making the transition from communism to global capitalism and democracy. His articles have appeared in World Politics, Eastern European Politics and Societies, Post-Soviet Affairs, Communist and Post-Communist Studies, among other places. His work has been supported by grants from the Social Science Research Council, the American Council of Learned Societies, the Woodrow Wilson Center for International Scholars, and the National Council for Eurasian and East European Research. His current research focuses on the new postcommunist members of the European Union, and the impact their rather liberal and flexible labor regimes will have on the European "social model." In 20 07-2008, he will be a Research Fellow at the Collegium Budapest.
