The 2009 Iowa Philosophical Society Conference will be held on Saturday November 14 in Iowa City, IA. All meetings of the conference will be held in the Adler Journalism Building (AJB), which is next to the main library and parking lot 3. The University of Iowa campus is easily reached from the I-80 freeway (or from the Eastern Iowa Airport, which connects to I-80 via I-380). Maps and further directions are available at http://www.uiowa.edu/homepage/hub/tours.html.
There is no official conference hotel for the meeting, but a couple of suggestions are the Iowa House Hotel and the Iowa City Sheraton. The Iowa House Hotel is located on campus, right off the Iowa River. The website for the hotel is at http://imu.uiowa.edu/iowahouse. The Iowa City Sheraton is about a block from campus, in the downtown pedestrian mall. The website is at http://www.starwoodhotels.com/sheraton/property/overview/index.html?propertyID=1282. Both hotels are within easy walking distance to AJB. There are also a number of other hotels, bed and breakfasts, etc., in Iowa City, all of which can be easily found online, and all of which should provide fairly easy access to campus.
Conference registration is $20 for faculty and $5 for students, payable on site. There will be a banquet dinner Saturday evening at 6:30 at the Brown Bottle in the pedestrian mall. The menu is available at http://www.iowacitybrownbottle.com/banquet_css.htm. Do not send money at this time; individuals will be able to pay by separate checks.
Please e-mail any questions to diane-jeske@uiowa.edu or david-cunning@uiowa.edu. See everybody on November 14!
