Here, you'll find our application for teaching in the fall or summer of 2012. This application is due by noon on Monday, April 30. If you must go to an orientation, background check forms are due at noon on Friday, April 13.

Note to younger students: Because of Department of Corrections/Iowa Juvenile Home regulations, you cannot volunteer in the program until after you turn 18.

Teaching Application

  • Before you begin your teaching application, read our Resources and Guidelines for Teachers. Then fill out parts one and two below.
  • You must go through an orientation at the prison where you want to volunteer. The next orientation for the Newton Correctional Facility is Tuesday, April 24th from 6-9pm (leaving campus at 5 and returning by 9:30); the next orientation at the Iowa Correctional Institution for women is 4/26 from 4-8:30pm (leaving campus by 3 and returning by (9:30). In order to go to one of these orientations, you must fill out the appropriate Background Check Form--due Friday, April 13 at noon in Emily's office at 1127 Park St.
