Attendance
Children who are enrolled at Grinnell College Preschool are expected to attend for the full session and be punctual in their arrival and departure. Children are not expected to be absent any more than is necessary for health reasons or appointments. Irregular attendance interferes with the progress of your child.
If your child will not be attending preschool on a school day, please call the Director at the preschool or at home so we do not wait for your child before starting our daily activities. For safety's sake, if a child is absent without notification, the teaching staff will attempt to contact the family to verify the child's absence.
School Calendar
The Grinnell College Preschool sessions run from September through May. The preschool calendar coordinates with the Grinnell College calendar (which differs from the public school calendar). The calendar for the current year is given out during home visits.
Snow Days
If we cancel due to weather, a radio announcement will be reported on KGRN - 1410AM. It is announced later than the public school announcements, around 7:30 a.m. The director will make the decision at least one hour prior to opening if the Preschool will be closed due to inclement weather. If there is no announcement, school will be in session. Please call if you have a question about school being in session.
