NATHAN M. BROOKS (Russian and Chemistry and History). ...
KATHRYN C. ELLIS-KELEMEN (Russian and Political Science). ...
LINDA S. GASSER (Russian and Political Science and Education). ...
ALTHEA KALLAS (Russian and Art). did a 7-
week, independent (backpacking) round-the-world trip in March-May
this year, which included the trans-Siberian (trans-Manchurian)
railway from Beijing. The Beijing railway station is something
you'd rather not experience, but, having experienced it, is
something you wouldn't forget soon. Took the train straight
through, spent time in Moscow and St Petersburg. St Petersburg has
lost none of its enchantment.
Still fluent (partly thanks to working at a university with a
Russian colleague). Fantastic experience. Want to go back and live/
work there for a while.
She can be contacted at AKallas@ipc.ac.nz.
