NELLIE BASSETT DAVIS (Russian). With the help of a Russian Study Award, Nellie recently spent six months in Moscow, working in Russian puppet theaters, a very advanced art form in Russia and one close to Nellie's heart and talents.
Nellie pretty much abandoned puppetry after Jim Henson Production's financial troubles a couple years ago. But she is eternally grateful to the Russian Department alumni who made my post-graduate internship at the Obraztov puppetry theatre possible. She and her husband run a fine arts serigraphy studio in Brooklyn, NY. They work mostly for NY artists and publishers to print limited edition artwork. Nellie's job is primarily color mixing, while her husband, Luther (class of '93) is the master printer and printshop director. They just bought their first apartment.
Nellie can be contacted at: nelliedavis@excite.com.
