KATHRYN AUGHENBAUGH (Russian). In the last three years, Kathryn worked as a Program Associate for the Open World Program (a professional development program) at American Councils for International Education in Moscow. Her title was 'Embassy Liaison'. Kate got married! She got married on December 24, 2003. She kept her maiden name for the time being but plans to change it to Kuvshinova when she returns to the U.S. She's informally going by Kuvshinova already, and her husband's name is Valeriy.
She and Valeriy just recently traveled through the Ukraine and U.S. and somehow ended up in San Francisco where they're both working, he's a carpenter and she's temping as a legal recruiter.
She can be contacted at aughenba@hotmail.com.

GARY OPPENHEIM (REES and Anthropology). Gary spent a summer doing
archaeological fieldwork in Iowa along the
Mississippi, and then managed a psycholinguistics
research lab at UW-Madison for three years. He left
that lab in Wisconsin to travel for the summer in the
Baltics and Scandinavia, spending a month learning
Lithuanian in the port city of Klaipeda (it was part
of a grand scheme he has to study representatives from
all the indoeuropean language groups). This fall he
started a PhD program in psycholinguistics at
University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, where he'll
be studying language production and computational
psycholinguistics. He's pretty psyched right now
because he just found out that his 2001 senior thesis on
socialist utopian city planning was listed as required
reading for a 300-level course at UC-Long Beach.
