2006

Leigh Ahlgren (Russian/Political Science)

John Bowers (Russian/Math): For the next two years, John will be teaching 8th grade math at Webster Middle School through Teach for America--Los Angeles. Interestingly, while his classrooms are predominantly Latino and Africa-American, a handful of his students speak Russian in the home.

Adrienne Celt (Russian/Philosophy)

Brian Fritsch (Russian/Theatre): Brian is an assistant language teacher on the JET program in Japan. In the future he plans to travel some more.

Molly Goodwin-Kucinsky (Russian/Physics)

Renata Heberton (Russian/History)

Rebecca Horne (Russian)

Elisabeth Kruger (Russian/Theatre): Elisabeth moved to Irkutsk, Russia shortly after graduating from Grinnell in 2006. During her first year in Irkutsk, she researched Siberian Folk Theatre on a Fulbright grant. After that, she became the Irkutsk Resident Coordinator for Middlebury College's School in Russia. This is a multifaceted job that involves playing the role of support system as well as academic advisor and administrator in the lives of American college students during their semester or year abroad.

Avram Lyon (Russian/Mathematics): Avram is currently studying Russian language and literature and mathematics at Kazan State Univerisity in Kazan, Tatarstan, Russia, on the John Mohan Russian Study Award. He's also coordinator of the one- and two-week Russian language programs at the Concordia Language Villages Russian village, Lesnoe Ozero. In the future, Avram's going back to the United States to teach whatever he can and probably pursue an advanced degree (in something, hopefully Russian or language-teaching related).

Sarah Moss (Russian/Political Science)

Meghan Redd (Russian)

C. Cain Elliott (RCEES/Religious Studies)

Anna McNulty (RCEES/Philosophy) Anna is now entering her second year teaching high school English at Sumner High School in St. Louis, Missouri through Teach for America. This year she finds herself teaching English Literature, AP English, a college-prep program called AVID, and working as Sumner's AP Coordinator in my "free time." She is also working on a Masters in Secondary Education and a permanent teaching certificate in that very same "free time." She should have the Masters from the University of Missouri - St. Louis by August, 2008. She has no real long-term plans yet, aside from ditching the previous long-term plan of attending graduate school in Philosophy. Her job is extremely rewarding and her students rock.
