Helen Scott completed her undergraduate work at Oberlin College, and received the M.A. and Ph.D. in Slavic Languages and Literatures at the University of Chicago. She joined the Russian Department in 1981, and taught all levels of our language and literature sequences. Helen also taught linguistics at Grinnell, and made a major addition to our students' options for Russia-based study programs when she organized the ACM-GLCA Semester in Krasnodar, Russia in the mid-1980s. Helen has also been active in the study of gender issues in Russia, and headed a Hewlett-funded project in St. Petersburg in Summer 1992.
From 1992-2005, Helen served as Associate Dean of the College.
