Both on and off campus, there are a wide variety of research opportunities you can pursue. At Grinnell, our Mentored Advanced Project (MAP) program encourages students to work with faculty members on an advanced research project, taken as a for-credit independent study. The process for getting a MAP in sociology is unique, so make sure to read our faculty members' suggestions on MAP planning and take a look at some of the MAPs our past sociology students have conducted in the past.
We've also taken the time to browse external research opportunities and fellowships at other universities and colleges as well as foundations and centers that may be of interest to a sociology major, so make sure to take a look at that as well.
