Spanish House

Each spring interested students will be able to sign up to live in the Spanish House (1316 Park). The Spanish Assistant will always live in the Spanish House and often other native speakers do so as well. Students who have been abroad or are planning to study off-campus have often taken advantage of this opportunity.

Preference to live in the house will be given to students who:

  • are Spanish majors
  • will be taking Spanish classes when living in the house
  • will be studying abroad, in a Hispanic country, after living in the house
  • are coming back from off-campus study in a Hispanic country
  • are native speakers
  • participate regularly in the activities offered by the Spanish Department and Spanish House

SPANISH HOUSE IS RECRUITING FOR 2007-2008

If you are interested in the Spanish language and culture and want to experience as complete of an immersion environment as this campus can provide, please consider being part of the Spanish House for next academic year.

The Spanish House is located at 1316 Park St (Brown House) and has 11 spaces available. We are now recruiting for next year.

You will enjoy the company of the Spanish Language Assistant and other students while sharing meals, conversations, coffee and study breaks, films, songs, and Latin dance.

ALL students of Spanish and students who are Spanish native speakers are welcome. However, if there are more candidates than spaces available, preference to live in the house will be given to students who:

--are Spanish majors
--will be taking Spanish classes when living in the house
--will be studying abroad, in a Hispanic country, after living in the house
--are coming back from off-campus study in a Hispanic country
--are native speakers
--participate regularly in the activities offered by the Spanish Department and Spanish House.

To be assured full consideration, complete the form below and send it via e-mail to Prof. Esther Fernández [fernand2@grinnell.edu] at your earliest convenience, BUT NO LATER THAN February 17.
