Every paragraph in your paper should work toward advanding your central claim. As such, each should consist of a topic sentence that relates in a recognizable way to your thesis statement; this connection gives your paper unity. The topic sentence, or major claim of the paragraph, is typically located at the begining or the end of the paragraph and should be adequately supported with evidence (quotes, paraphrased examples, statistics, facts, etc.); the way you present evidence helps with paragraph development. Finally, all of the sentences within the paragraph must logically connect to each other in order to achieve coherence.
