Advising and Career Planning
Ashley Schaefer, the Lawrence S. Pidgeon Director of Grinnell Careers in Education Professions, provides advising and career planning services to all current and former Grinnell students interested in careers in education. Advising services include graduate school planning for students interested in education-related graduate programs, aid with the teaching licensure process, and an examination of the myriad education-related careers available to students after graduation. Ashley also guides students through the application process for popular teaching-service programs such as Teach for America, City Year, and College Possible.
We are happy to arrange mock-interview practice sessions for students with an upcoming interview in an education-related job. For students interested in teaching positions, we can provide practice teaching demonstrations that can be videotaped for further feedback and review.
Students are encouraged to submit their resume and schedule a resume-review appointment, whether in-person or via Skype. We also can help students craft an education-focused resume and critique and revise cover letters.
