Why did you choose Grinnell?

I chose to attend Grinnell because when I visited the school, everyone was welcoming and friendly and it was clear that the personality and atmosphere of the college went far beyond campus life. As I observed campus during my stay as a prospective student, I saw that there was some activity or space here for everyone and it was easy to find support systems for all of your endeavors.

What do you love most about Grinnell?

What I love most about Grinnell is that here it is perfectly okay to go to class in your pajamas or drop by your professor's office to talk about your weekend. There is a real sense of community, in addition to our strong academics, and this atmosphere makes learning fun and worthwhile. This school does not put intellect in a box but instead gives it room to grow and flourish.

What advice do you have for prospective students?

My advice for prospective students is make sure you visit colleges to get a real sense of what each one is about. Apply to (and ultimately enroll in!) the schools that would make you the happiest over the next four years. Learning should always be fun and whichever college accomplishes this in a way that matters to you is the one you should go to. In terms of advice on applications, the more you relax about writing essays and taking standardized tests, the better you'll do. Also, make sure to leave room for sleep and something fun once in a while. The college process will be over before you know it!
