6:45 am Get up, get ready, and go get breakfast (granola, yogurt, and tea) at the dining hall.
8:00 am Head to my first-year tutorial, Our Prairie Town, with Professor Jon Andelson. In this class, we discuss the town of Grinnell as a place, in terms of both history and the environment. Today we discussed research projects on the history of Grinnell, I'm planning on doing a demographic survey of the town of Grinnell from its founding in 1854 to the present.
11:00 am "Tabling" for the Concerts Committee, part of the Student Government Association that books and organizes concerts on campus. Outfitted with a boombox, I sit outside the dining hall promoting the music of TEEN and Hospitality before they perform in Grinnell's Gardner Lounge later that day.
12:15 pm Lunchtime! I had salad and pizza.
12:45 pm Europe in the Age of Revolutions with Professor Maynard. In this class we're exploring the wave of revolutions that occurred across Europe between 1789-1917, using primary sources and contemporary analyses. Today we examined and discussed the ascent of Napoleon after the French Revolution, and how the rest of Europe reacted.
2:30 pm Homework time! I did readings for Intro to Anthropology and Europe in the Age of Revolutions, as well as outlining the research paper for my tutorial.
6:30 pm Dinnertime! I had Korean BBQ stir-fry and apple pie tonight.
7:15 pm I worked on my Intro to Earth Systems lab for a bit.
8:30 pm Time to catch up on some Parks and Recreation with some friends from my floor.
9:15 pm TEEN/Hospitality Concert in Gardner Lounge; it was a great show!
11:45 pm Go to bed, 8am class comes early.
