What could be better than good food and great music? I'll tell you, nothing. So where can a Grinnell student get those two things? Food House. At a Food House party.
For those of you who don't know, Food House is one of Grinnell's project houses. In Food House, all of the students who live there together cook dinner five days a week. I have a friend who lives there and she invited me to a Mexican fiesta. So what made this party special? There were nachos, burritos, Spanish rice, and tres leche cake. The food was so good, especially the cake. But after the food was gone was when the party really started.
The party planners had borrowed some big speakers from ACE (All Campus Events) and began blasting some very good music. It was at this point that everyone hit the "dance floor" and thanks to our full bellies, everyone was dancing up a storm. As the party went on it seemed that everyone I knew and liked was there -- this was obviously the party of the semester. I kept running into all of my favorites, Surekha from my floor, Abby from my Poli Sci class, and Juli from SA training. It was really awesome to see everyone having such a great time in the house with all the bumping music.
After four or five hours the party began to die down, however, I wasn't ready to let it die, so I stuck around and chatted with some pretty cool people I didn't know too well. After another hour of that, it was time to head home. I went home thinking about all of the fun I had at the party and dreading all of the homework I had to do the next day. But what a great night.
