Admission representative for: IL
Where are you from originally and what do you like most about living in Grinnell?
I spent most of childhood in Des Moines, Iowa, and I am a proud Iowa ambassador to my neighbors in Chicago. My position with the Office of Admission is based in Chicago, as Illinois students make up the largest state representation on campus (15% of our student population).
What do you like to do in your free time?
Each month when I return to Grinnell, I thoroughly enjoy meeting with the students that I've recruited to Grinnell from Illinois and other states and countries. These informal meetings take place over lunch, dinner or even during basketball games (where the teams feature more ethnicities and nationalities than are represented in the entire NBA!). I also enjoy talking with students during the Friday night card game tournaments -- which any student can initiate through email challenges or mass text messages -- that are held in the Conney M. Kimbo Black Cultural Center.
What do you like most about Grinnell students?
Whether in the dining hall, on the basketball court or at the card table, students at Grinnell continue to impress me with their intellectual curiosity, their ability to think critically and their desire to contribute to the communities from which they came.
