Where are you from originally and what do you like most about living in Grinnell?

I'm a native New Englander - I grew up in Lexington, Massachusetts, and am a lifelong Red Sox fan. That said, before I moved to Grinnell with my family, I lived in Brooklyn, NY, and absolutely loved it! We moved to Grinnell when my husband accepted a faculty position here, and while Grinnell is certainly a big change from NYC, it is also the most welcoming community in which I've ever lived. I love it here because its a wonderful place to raise a child and also because its been so easy to make good friends and to have the time to spend with them -- over dinner or in our backyard around a fire pit.

What do you like to do in your free time?

My favorite way to spend time is to be with my husband, my little girl and our giant dog, and I feel lucky that I spend most of my time doing just that! I also love to eat, read novels (Iris Murdoch and Cormac McCarthy are my two favorite authors at the moment), and travel. In fact, getting to travel the Northeast is one of the best parts of my job - I get to meet prospective students AND see old friends and family!

What do you like most about Grinnell students?

Grinnell students are some of the warmest, most engaged, most dynamic people I've ever had the privilege to meet. Grinnellians are not passive at all, and I love being surrounded by people who are full and active participants in the College, the community, and the wider world. Also, they make terrific babysitters.
