Getting to Grinnell

The Middle of Nowhere?

Once you decide to visit Grinnell, you’ll learn that we’re not exactly in the middle of nowhere. Grinnell sits at the heart of a constellation of Midwestern cities. The College's location in central Iowa makes it an easy drive from any major metropolis in the Midwest:

Airports

If you do not live in the Midwest, you can fly to Des Moines or Cedar Rapids from major cities nationwide. Both airports are about one hour from Grinnell College.

For most of the year, the Office of Admission provides transportation to and from the Des Moines and Cedar Rapids airports for prospective students who are traveling without an adult. There is no charge for this service. Reservations must be made at least 10 working days in advance. Your flights should arrive and depart between the hours of 10 a.m. and 9 p.m. A driver will meet you at the exit door nearest the baggage claim area.

Check the Campus Visit Calendar for specific dates.
