Investigative learning is the focus of our new, award-winning biology and biological chemistry curricula. At all levels of the courses that I teach, I have integrated lab work related to my research system which is focused on understanding how bacteria respond to DNA damage. During Alumni College, I would like to share some of the exciting research students have been doing in my lab and demonstrate how utilization of this research system facilitates student learning in my classes.
Leslie Gregg-Jolly, associate professor of biology, joined the faculty in 1993. She received her Phd from Yale University and specializes in Molecular Biology and Microbial Genetics. Her specific interests include DNA repair mechanisms and recombination. Courses she has taught include Molecular Genetics, Molecular Biology, and Introduction to Biological Inquiry, "Biological Responses to Stress" .
