Associate Professor of Biology Kathryn Jacobson received her Ph.D. from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and did Post-Doctoral work at the Desert Research Foundation of Namibia. Her lab research with undergraduate students focuses on various aspects of community structure and population biology of fungi. She has three projects that are currently ongoing at the Conard Environmental Research Area (CERA) outside of Grinnell. She has worked closely with students regarding her research in Namibia. Her recent work has been supported by NSF, the Iowa Academy of Science, a Woodrow Wilson Career Enhancement Fellowship, and Grinnell College.
