Michele Weiner-Davis '73

Strong relationships are fundamental to meaningful lives, and among the many connections we have with others, the ones we have with our spouses are particularly vital. For three decades, this alumna has helped strengthen marriages through her innovative and inspiring work as a psychotherapist and author.

After graduating from Grinnell, this alumna earned a master's degree in social work from the University of Kansas. She worked as social worker and psychotherapist before starting the Divorce Busting Center in 1992, which helps couples rebuild their relationships with one another.

Shortly after founding the center, she published Divorce Busting, which became a bestseller. She has authored six other books, including Fire Your Shrink!, The Divorce Remedy, and In Search of Solutions.

Her approach to enhancing couples' relationships has been featured in national media including the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Los Angeles Times. She has appeared on programs including Oprah, 48 Hours, and 20/20.

Her work has also garnered high praise from within her field: in 2001, she was the recipient of the American Association of Marriage and Family's Outstanding Contribution to the Field of Marriage and Therapy award. She has also earned the Impact Award from the Coalition for Marriage, Family, and Couples Education.

Now with an extensive Web-based community, telephone coaching business, and offices in Woodstock, Illinois, and Boulder, Colorado, this alumna's company has been able to help thousands of married men and women reconnect with one another to create successful, intimate relationships with one another.

For helping couples build and maintain stronger marriages and better lives, Grinnell is proud to recognize Michele Weiner-Davis '73.
